LEVELS OF FRENCH
FRENCH LEVELS ACCORDING TO THE CEFR
Developed at the initiative of the Council of Europe, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is the reference document for describing the levels of language skills used for the development of language certifications.

A1 : Beguinner
This level values the first knowledge. This is the most basic level of language use, called "Access". At this stage, the student is able to carry out simple interactions: he can talk about himself and his closest environment.

A2 : Basic
This level is situated in the same perspective and also validates the linguistic competence of a basic user, considered as a social actor. At this stage, the candidate is able to perform simple tasks of daily life. You can use the most common forms of courtesy and conversation.

B1 : Intermediate
At this level, the user is already independent. You are already able to follow an interaction: you can understand and follow a discussion and express your point of view and opinion. It is able to function in unforeseen situations of daily life.

B2 : Advanced Intermediate
The candidate is able to understand the main ideas of complex texts that deal with both concrete and abstract topics, even if they are of a technical nature, as long as they are within their field of specialization.

C1 : Experienced
The user can understand a wide variety of long texts and with a certain level of demand, as well as recognize implicit meanings in them. You know how to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without obvious signs of effort to find the right expression.

C2 : Upper Advanced
At this level, he is able to easily understand practically everything he hears or reads. Knows how to reconstruct information and arguments from various sources, whether in spoken or written language, and present them in a coherent and summarized manner.
LEVEL ESTIMATE
You don't know what your level is? One of the most important decisions when we already have notions in French is to locate ourselves in a course that corresponds to us. As we already have a background from another school, we focus on:
-Recognizing topics already assimilated
-Reinforcing existing skills
-Detecting errors and gaps in learning
-Completeing your training
-Learning new topics
If you have doubts when choosing your level and need a professional estimate, you can request our Personalized Level Test or simply take the Written Level Test online.
This way you will avoid joining a group where you will get bored with basic things that you already know or, on the contrary, feel lost in one that is too advanced.
